Benue River



The Benue River is located in Benue State, a state of Benue in Nigeria, Africa. It is the chief waterway of the Niger River traveling its 869 miles through the Adamawa Plateau, the town of Cameroon, the town of Garoua, the country of Nigeria, the mountains of Mandara, the town of Jimeta, the town of Ibi, Makurdi the capital city of Benue and finally Lokoja the capital of the state of Koji. All these towns and cities it travels through make it a vital route for transportation.

Benue’s major waterway is Mayo Kebbi along with the smaller Taraba and Katsina-Ala Rivers. The basin of the River has deposits of tin, marble, limestone and gold making it a very profitable area for Benue.
